The other day I was writing a post about earnings of women in Ukraine. By doing a search I got across a weird question, “How much is a Ukrainian wife?” While the question itself sounds somewhat eerie, it would be worthwhile to explore the costs of marrying a woman from another country as compared to meeting and tying the knot with someone locally.

So, what do you reckon, guys? How much the whole enterprise of meeting and bringing home a gorgeous wife from Ukraine would cost you?

How much will it cost you to get a Ukrainian wife?

The real answer is: Depends on the country where you live.

Of course, there are costs involved. In fact, singles in developed countries spend about 12 thousand dollars annually on dating.

Most Americans agree it would require from 7 to 15 thousand dollars to complete the process of meeting, courting and bringing a wife from Ukraine to the USA. So, it will be about the same as to meet someone locally, or possibly even cheaper than the regular expenses for dating in your home country.

For Europeans, it will be much less. The closer you are to the country of your future wife, the cheaper it will be.

The reason for the costs of marrying a Ukrainian being less is that the first introduction stage where you tend to spend a lot of money happens online, you are not going on dinner and movie dates. It may seem insignificant, but what if you do not marry the first woman you meet? What if you go out with 3, 5, or 10 ladies? Then it starts looking expensive, even if you split the bill.

In case of a Ukrainian wife, who is located in a foreign country, the first months of the courting process you spend nothing on dates. You are chatting online on Skype for free.

Even the amount you spend on a wedding will be way lower if you decide to have it in Ukraine: $3K as compared to $30,000+ in the USA.

So, what is involved in getting a Ukrainian wife to your country?

1. Partner’s visa fees

The largest portion of the cost is government fee for the application for a visa: In some countries like Australia it costs over $7,000 to apply for a prospective partner (fiancée) visa.

Some guys try to get around this requirements by applying for a student visa for the woman, which is never a good idea: The best is always do the right thing. (Trying to cut corners could create problems for you in the future, but people think they know better or act on advice they get in some forum.)

How much you will spend on getting a Ukrainian wife depends on your location.

2. Travel

The next thing on the list is the cost of tickets. If you live in Europe, you can even drive to Ukraine, and prices for air travel are also cheap.

If you have to fly over from another continent, the costs escalate. There are always cheap tickets and you can save when buying well in advance.

Thus, if you wonder about the costs of completing the task of getting a Ukrainian wife, check prices for tickets and the government application fees for a partner visa. This will be the variable part of your personal expenditure, as compared to someone from another country. Your future wife will have to fly from Ukraine to your country.

The next expense is the personal meeting. You don’t have to necessarily travel to Ukraine for a meeting. You are able to meet somewhere close by, Ukrainians can visit over 100 countries without a visa. There should be a place somewhere nearby where you are able to meet.

Of course, you can also fly to Ukraine and stay there for a few days, weeks, or even months. This is another variable. If you are accustomed to staying in 5-star hotels, this will generate a higher bill, obviously. If you develop a great relationship and stay at her place, then visiting Ukraine will be free for you, except for the airplane tickets.

Costs of a wedding in Ukraine is only 2-3 thousand US Dollars as compared with 30,000 in the USA.

3. Presents, meals, miscellaneous

Men pay the bill in Ukraine (no splitting the bill with the woman, ever), so it will cost you a little bit to date there. It won’t be much if you have developed a great relationship via chatting online (never through pay-per-letter sites, these are a scam).

I guess I have to stop here and explain what pay-per-letter dating sites are. Those are websites where you pay for every message, photo, video, etc. In short, you pay to communicate. The cost may seem negligible per message, but guys quickly accumulate bills of USD 800 and over in just a couple of weeks.

Why these sites of paid communication are a bad idea? Because Ukrainians develop a system where they hire people to communicate and pose as “brides”. It is possible because you are paying per message. It is not possible unless you are paying per message. So, simply stay away from any website that charges for correspondence for every message. All the money you spend will be for nothing. You will be talking to a hired writer who is earning a salary for being nice to you. Don’t even think of going there, and if you are already there, depart immediately. Unfortunately, you won’t get any money back.

In case you are dating through a regular (non-PPL) dating site with a view to get a Ukrainian wife, read on.

What we were talking about, you will need to pay for presents (a visitor is supposed to bring presents, such is the local custom). It won’t be much, probably about $200 if you are doing it on the budget. Some guys bring computers and laptops for their girlfriends as a gift; these obviously cost a bit more.

The shorter is your stay, the less money you will obviously spend. But you can definitely spend just as much as you regularly spend at home, if you have free accommodation at your girlfriend’s place. This is another reason not to date through PPL sites: They won’t let you do that. PPL agents make money on leasing you an apartment at high prices, and most guys do it, because they hope they can get a girl to stay over (with PPL brides, this never happens — it’s a setup).
