Ukrainian wages are the lowest on the European continent, so it’s no wonder that locals are looking for ways to earn more in nearby countries. But what kind of specialists from Ukraine are in demand?
These Ukrainian specialists are in demand in Europe
Finding well paid jobs in Ukraine is not easy, this is why locals are looking at options in other destinations, Finance.ua reported.
Experts believe that 1 in 5 Ukrainians of working age has left the country to get a job elsewhere. The biggest problem for workers thinking of higher wages abroad is the inability to speak foreign languages, according to Tatiana Pashkina, a human resources expert.
Employment agencies that advertise vacancies in Ukraine with the view to attract workers mostly offer positions for people ready to become laborers. Conveyer and warehouse jobs are examples of such positions. There are also seasonal jobs on farms and building sites. Mechanics, sailors, veterinarians, drivers are also in demand.
Even such specialists as medical doctors, qualifies nurses often take unqualified jobs in Europe, because wages are higher than what they can get at home.
Ukrainian engineers would be in demand in Europe if they could speak languages, Pashkina noted.
The technical documentation is written in local languages such as Polish, German, or English, and if the specialist cannot communicate with clients, then all he can get is a job on building sites along with other Ukrainians.
However, IT specialists are in a privileged position and able to earn high salaries without leaving Ukraine. This is why many of them are working from home in Ukraine for European companies, saving on living expenses.
European employees would be happy to hire Ukrainian medical doctors, engineers, accountants, architects, pharmacists, teachers, but lack of knowledge of foreign languages puts a stop on such opportunities.
For instance, a medical doctor earns only 4,000 hryvnia (USD 160) in Ukraine per month, and in Germany such specialists earn 120,000 hryvnia (USD 4,800). There are not enough doctors, but Ukrainians rarely speak German on the level required to treat patients.
Certainly, medical specialists need to pass exams and confirm their qualifications before they are allowed to practice in Europe.
