We talk a lot about things that Russian women want, but what about the men? What do Russian men want?
What Russian men wish for
The All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre asked local males what would they wish to get for the holiday of 23 February — the unofficial ‘Men’s Day’ in Russia.
A holiday away was on top of the list of the desired presents with 22% of local gentlemen wishing for it.
The #2 position on the list is even more exciting: 17% of guys in Russia, apparently, hope to get a car as a present for the Men’s Day (it’s some serious statistics, gentlemen).
The third position in the rating of the desired gifts belongs with a dinner in a restaurant, concert or theatre tickets (13%) — strangely enough, these quite different activities are all united in one group for the purposes of this research. While real males would probably prefer to eat out as opposed to going to a theatre performance, but who knows, maybe guys in Russia do see it as equal.
The same share of respondents would love money as a gift.
10% of respondents would like a book as a gift, the same share of Russian males is happy to get a mobile phone.
Only 1% of local males hope to get a house or an apartment as a present for the Men’s Day — modest enough.
Another 1% wish for… flowers! How about the flower-based dating culture of Russia? Even guys are susceptible, apparently. Would you like a bunch of pretty blooms as a present?

What do Russian ladies plan to gift?
Naturally, the plans of local ladies aren’t that majestic.
- Most of them (35%) plan to purchase a perfume, shaving gel or some other skin care for the males in their lives.
- 29% of women are buying notebooks, pens or wallets.
- 16% are going to buy some items of clothing or shoes (most likely, socks and jocks).
- 12% of ladies are planning just put some cash in the envelope for a present.
- 8% (the same share for each group) will give a toy, a book, or tickets to a concert or maybe a dinner in a restaurant.
- 7% of ladies plan to present a mobile phone or other gadgets to the guys.
- 4% of female respondents will cook a dinner.
- 2% plan to purchase flowers for the male.
It should be noted that the Men’s Day comes 2 weeks before the Women’s Day 8 March. If a lady expects a present on Women’s Day, then she feels obliged to get something special for the boyfriend or husband, as well as the father and brother. Ladies also usually make gifts to male colleagues and get something a couple of weeks later from the guys in the office.
It doesn’t appear that any of the ladies intend to buy a car or a house for the Men’s Day as a gift, but Russian males shouldn’t give up the hope. Maybe, one day…

Yeah but this isn’t an article about what men want from a relationship, it’s just stuff they want. What I found interesting is that number one was an experience and not a thing. This says something good about changes occurring in Russia.
Wow, when I think of my salary I guess attention and some tiny cute thing is everything I could give to my man. I really envy those girls who are able to give a car as a gift to their men. By the way, I am also wondering, who is that man, who answered he would like to get flowers on a Man’s day (:
