Despite the pandemic and lockdowns, wages in Ukraine may increase by at least 10% in 2021.
Average wages in Ukraine set to grow in 2021
The size of an average wage is expected to reach UAH 16,000 (USD 577) and the minimum wage will be raised to UAH 6,500 (USD 235) by the end of 2021, Finance.ua reported.
Former Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Pavel Kukhta announced that despite the pandemic, wage growth dynamics in 2021 would be similar to previous years. For example, in December 2016 the average salary increased by 17%, in December 2017 — by 15%, in 2018 — by 15.4%, in 2019 — by 17.8%, and in 2020 — by 18.2 %.

However, the size of the average salary in December is traditionally the highest monthly payout of the year. Thanks to quarterly and annual bonuses in December, December pay checks are 15-18% higher than the month before. In January, wages drop back to their normal levels or even lower, because of many holidays in the beginning of the month.
