Just before Christmas, Ukrainians were granted the ability to sign documents online.

Online signatures in Ukraine

The new service became available on 20 December. A person needs a smartphone or another mobile device connected to Internet, to be able to sign documents online.

Volodymyr Groysman, Prime Minister of Ukraine, confirmed that the new services called MobileID will allow Ukrainians to get authorized on websites and create electronic documents.

The service is provided by one local mobile operator at the moment and others will offer it soon.

However, it is only the residents of 11 large cities who are able to access it at the present time: Kyiv, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Cherkasy, KP.ua reported.

What MobileID can be used for?

• Applying for subsidies, social payments for the birth of the child, registering a business, etc. The website of the government services offers 117 electronic services where MobileID is accepted.
• Access to the health records, prescriptions.
• Obtain educational records, apply to study online.
• Access to VPN, mobile phone, access to electronic systems on the corporate market.
• Online purchases and auctions.

Ukrainian mobile Internet is known for its excellent quality, especially in large centres.

Some Internet bloggers dubbed Kyiv (Kiev) as the upcoming best city in the world for digital nomads.

The prices in the country are still very cheap and it is easy to access, since Europeans and Americans don’t need a visa.

Citizens of the majority of other developed countries are able to obtain the visa on arrival at the airport.
