See if your Ukrainian bride‘s region is rich or poor.
Rich and poor areas in Ukraine
In general, life in large cities is better than in small towns. Kyiv (Kiev), for instance, has wages nearly twice as high as the national averages.
It’s also enlightening to see where the money goes location-wise, as per Ukrstat data.
- Resident population of Ukraine is estimated at 41, 9 million, as of October 2019.
- Total capital investment in Ukraine in January-September 2019: 379,203 mln UAH.
- Investment per capita: 9,050 UAH (USD 376).
Which regions benefited the most?
- The city of Kyiv is a standout performer with 126,591 mln UAH investment (43,438 UAH per capita).
- Dnipro region received 44,999 mln UAH (14,097 UAH per capita).
- Kyiv region scored 30,099 mln UAH (17,036 UAH per capita).
- Donetsk: 18,805 mln UAH (4,541 UAH per capita).
- Lviv: 17,821 mln UAH (7,129 UAH per capita).
- Poltava: 14,726 mln UAH (10,611 UAH per capita).
- Kharkiv: 14,424 mln UAH (5,435 UAH per capita).
- Odesa: 13,776 mln UAH (5,819 UAH per capita).
- Vinnytsya: 9,193 mln UAH (5,940 UAH per capita).
- Zaporizhya: 9,006 mln UAH (5,303 UAH per capita).
- Volyn: 8,452 mln UAH (8,196 UAH per capita).
- Mikolayiv: 8,184 mln UAH (7,266 UAH per capita).
- Cherkasy: 7,020 mln UAH (5,862 UAH per capita).
- Khmelnitsky: 6,339 mln UAH (5,039 UAH per capita).
- Kherson: 5,972 mln UAH (5,783 UAH per capita).
- Ternopil: 5,846 mln UAH (5,622 UAH per capita).
- Ivano-Frankivsk: 5,831 mln UAH (4,261 UAH per capita).
- Chernihiv: 5,376 mln UAH (5,419 UAH per capita).
- Sumy: 4,929 mln UAH (4,588 UAH per capita).
- Zhytomyr: 4,808 mln UAH (3,952 UAH per capita).
- Rivne: 4,388 mln UAH (3,800 UAH per capita).
- Zakarpattya: 4,043 mln UAH (3,227 UAH per capita).
- Kirovohrad: 4,070 mln UAH (4,354 UAH per capita).
- Chernivtsy: 2,470 mln UAH (2,744 UAH per capita).
- Luhansk: 2,034 mln UAH (949 UAH per capita).
It’s apparent that the city of Kyiv (Kiev) and the region benefited the most from the capital investment in 2019.
Such low investment in Luhansk region can be explained by the fact that a large part of the region isn’t under control of the Ukrainian government. If the region became fully under control (the same situation is in Donetsk), then the level of investment would obviously change.
