- According to reports in the media, the only thing a person needs in case of staying with a friend is an email with contact details of the person who invites a Ukrainian citizen. The email needs to state that you will provide accommodation during her visit, list your phone number, full name and address. (The authorities may call you for a confirmation.)
- The lady will also require to have a biometric passport. It is a necessary condition of visa-free entry to European Union for Ukrainians.

A short weekend visit to meet up is now more than possible and easy to arrange.
Citizens of Great Britain and Ireland, unfortunately, cannot enjoy such privileges to invite gorgeous girls from Ukraine to visit without a visa. In this case, you may pick a place to stay over a weekend somewhere in Europe, if you wish.
It’s also possible to fly to Ukraine to meet your girlfriend, which offers inexpensive accommodation and cheap tickets for air travel. Citizens of European countries and the USA don’t need visas for tourist trips to Ukraine.
- After the visa-free regime with European Union was enabled on 11 June 2017, Ukrainian passport’s global rating jumped to 30th position in the world, by the number of countries locals can access freely (119 in total).
- By 7 pm on the first day of the visa-free regime, over 1400 Ukraine’s citizens travelled to Europe visa-free.
- Only 4 travellers were refused an entry on the first day of the new regime. 3 overstayed in the European Union previously, and 1 didn’t have a biometric passport.
Things are a little easier than before, but still there is a lot to be aware of. You can’t just grab your stuffed luggage and get on the nearest plane. There is a list of things to be done in advance not to find yourself in a jam. It would be really wonderful to have a talk with those who have got some experience and know what to expect.

What is the purpose of your visit to Ukraine? Are you going to see a girl? Where did you meet her?
Lots of guys think they met a Ukrainian girl online. But if it’s a pseudo-dating scheme, you’d better check it out before traveling to Odessa or Kiev. Otherwise, you may end up just like thousands of men before you. Unhappy and disappointed!

It’s 2017! 🙂 Have you heard of Skype? Then use it. Your results in dating Ukrainian women depend only on you. It’s unintelligent to travel without first meeting face-to-face on video several times.

I don’t need Skype or a translator. I expect someone to be an honest person and my Russian is good enough so I can communicate without a translator

I said, you need to chat on video before visiting (or inviting the girl to visit you), and it’s silly not to connect on Skype (it’s free!), and then complain that women don’t look like their photos. You say you are not going to use Skype anyway???

Having been to kiev, twice this year, as a US citizen, I can offer a few tips, Buy a ticket, Find a hotel or flat, (I used booking.com, stayed with Luxrent both times) Register for the STEP program (it offers travel advice and warnings from the govmt) Take a couple grand in cash, not necessary, as there are banks, but useful cause there are money changers on nearly every corner Let your cc and phone know you will be traveling, I use att and they have a decent program that allows unlimited call text and data for 10$ a day… Read more »

Russ was spot on then and most of it is still good avice today. I traveled to Ukraine in December 2018. This was after the most recent incident between Russia and Ukraine and just a few days after the implementation of martial law in 10 districts. Kyiv, of course, was not under martial law.
