Freelancing is a good way to earn a living for Ukrainians. Ukraine has even been dubbed ‘the next India for IT outsourcing’.
Ukrainian freelancers
In the rating of the countries for their raising freelance earnings Ukraine is on the fifth position, according to records by Payoneer. The list is based on earnings of 300,000 users in total.
- Online workers from the USA grew their income by 78% in 2019 as compared to the year before. This put Americans in the first position in the rating.
- Freelancers from the United Kingdom increased their earnings by 59%.
- Brazilian freelancers earned 48% more.
- Pakistan is next of the list of countries that is growing their online earnings by freelance workers: They earned 47% more.
- Ukrainians managed to score contracts amounting 36% more in 2019.
Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Russia, and Serbia are also in the top-10 countries where online jobs bring more income to the network participants.
- 52% of freelancers are younger than 30.
- 1 in 4 is under 25.
- Only 6% of freelancers are over
Where the clients are?
The clients of online contractors are located all over the world. Many freelancers work with clients from several world regions, Finance.ua reported.
Countries like Russia and Ukraine where many freelance workers are located are striving to design systems that would be effective to charge taxes from online contractors.
In Ukraine freelancers have the option to pay a simplified tax of only 5%, if they meet certain conditions.
In the near future this may change. Most likely, the IT sphere will lose its privileged status and freelancers will be paying the same taxes as other businesses.
