All locals can speak Russian, but not all of them know Belarusian. Russian remains the second official language in the republic.

Belarus has strict control over Internet and effective law enforcement. The problem with marriage agencies and their unfair bait-and-switch tactics, typical for Ukraine, doesn’t exist here.

You are able to visit Belarus for up to 5 days without applying for a visa. Compared to that, Russia still requires foreign visitors to obtain a visa. Ukraine allows to visit for up to 90 days without a visa, or obtain one on arrival at the airport.
