Ukrainian land market is currently in a lockdown, but it should be open for business in 2020. How much does land in Ukraine is likely to cost, once it is operational?
How much will land in Ukraine cost in the open market?
2020 will be the year when fortunes in Ukraine could be made, once the land market becomes open for all the players.
Alexey Mushak, an economic advisor to the prime minister of Ukraine, believes that the initial price of land in the open market in 2020 will be around USD 2000 per hectare, Finance.ua reported.
Mushak pointed out that regions like Kherson or Volyn are likely to have lowers prices, while Poltava, Vinnytsia, and Cherkassy have better quality land and more competition, thus the cost per hectare may be higher.
Opening of the land market Ukraine in 2020 will be a major event for local and foreign investors. The rules of the game are still uncertain, with several economic models being considered. Some of the schemes propose to have limitations on how much land one person or entity may own, as well as restrict access of foreign investors. In this case, the price per hectare will be slightly lower, the expert pointed out: Possibly around USD 1900.
The cost of money in Ukraine will be also a major factor determining the cost of land. Cheaper credit will mean higher prices, and vice versa.
