Prices for apartment rentals in Ukraine went up in recent years from 6,000 (USD 235) to 8,000 hryvnia (USD 313) per month. Just as wages are paid monthly in Ukraine, so are the leases.
Cost of apartment rentals in Kyiv, Ukraine
Maxim Mamuryak, a local real estate agent, pointed out that it’s hard to find any apartment to rent in Kyiv (formerly spelled as ‘Kiev’) for less than 8 thousand hryvnia ($313), while just a few years ago there were plenty of offers around 6,000 UAH mark ($235).
Such prices are in the “budget” range, which includes about 80% of all rentals in Kyiv, Finance.ua reported.
For 8 thousand hrynvia one can rent a 1-room apartment (similar to a studio), which is the most popular type of property to lease.
Available rentals include fully furnished, as well as partially furnished or unfurnished units.
However, in just a few weeks prices for apartment rentals in Kyiv are expected to jump up, since thousands of new students will be arriving to study at universities and colleges. By September prices are likely to get a 10-20% hike.
Another reason for growth in prices is the start of the cold season, as the landlords are paying for central heating as part of their costs.
So, if you were to rent in Kyiv, the cheapest unit would cost you at least USD 300 per month. Prices in other cities are substantially lower.
