Extraverts tend to use words that describe positive emotions or social processing, a recent research discovered.
Extraverted people prefer certain words
People with extraverted personalities tend to use words that describe positive emotions such as “love”, “happy”, “blessed”, as well as optimistic descriptions such as “beautiful” or “nice”.
Extraverts also use lots of nouns except “I”, words like “share” or “talk”, which scientists mark as “social processing”, Science Daily reported.
It’s common knowledge that people with extraverted personalities enjoy social interactions. Now scientists point out that the choice of words depicting positivity and positive emotions also linked to extraversion.
Researchers from Singapore reviewed data from 37 studies to find patterns that showed what kind of words people who are extraverted use. The type of personality was determined via professional questionnaires used by psychologists.
In profiles on dating sites, words that people choose to describe themselves and potential matches may also provide an important insight to their personalities, as we can see. After reading a few dozens of profiles on a dating site, you may be able to start getting a feel for a person by just reading what they decided to say in their profiles, as it’s obviously important enough for them to share.
- Dating experts recommend being positive in your profile and concentrate on what you want rather than things you don’t want.
- Better not to mention things like “I don’t know what to say here” or “It’s hard to talk about myself”, as this indicates low level of self-awareness.
- If there is something you don’t want in a potential partner, try to express it in the positive way.
It will help you to score more matches!
