Women in Ukraine earn 28% lower wages on average wages than men, a recent report disclosed.
Ukrainian women’s wages are only 72% of men’s salaries
In all countries of the world females on average earn less than men, it is only the size of disproportion that differs. Ukraine is no different in this regard, although the country is planning to become a part of the International Coalition for Equal Pay.
Ukrainian ladies earn 28% less than guys, Finance.ua reported, based on data by the Ministry of Social Policies.
Tatiana Pashkina, a recruiting specialist, acknowledged that gender discrimination exists, and the inequality in wages is the prime example.
Social experiment
Segodnya sent a male and a female to an interview for the vacancy of a chef. According to their CV’s they had identical credentials and education, work experience.
Alexey, the male, got an invite to attend an interview immediately. He was met by the cafe owner and a chef, who said to be looking for a co-chef.
The owner offered him the payment of 300 hryvnia (USD 12) per day as a co-chef. If he were to work alone, then the daily wage would be 400 hrvynia (USD 15).
Nataly, the female, was asked to come in two days. She was, however, offered the same wages as Alexey.
So, wage-wise the social experiment didn’t show discrimination, but it appeared that a male employee would be the preferred option of the owner and the chef.
However, experts insist in industries like construction or finance females would be offered lower wages.
The Ukrainian parliament recently approved a law about gender quotas, according to which state-funded structures have to employ minimum of 40% males and 40% of females. In other words, no female or male dominated environments in state departments. The law was accepted unanimously.

Women are not paid differently for the same job and production levels outside of a few individual instances.
There aren’t many women on roofs or laying bricks on 90 degree days.
In fact, it’s my witness, women are preferred for most jobs.
That’s ok, men are noble and can handle it. Anyway, we love you all.
