About 40% of marriages end in divorce, but what is the best age to get married, to ensure happiness in a couple? Marriage.com offers some sound advice.
When should you get married?
While there is no certain formula that suits everyone, certain considerations make sense.
- Marrying in your 20s will allow you to be happier, you’ll have more energy to raise kids, and by the time you are in your 30s, children are already fairly independent and you can do more things. This is also a great incentive to be conservative about money, make savings, buy a home, and work hard to provide for the family. Things are never perfect anyway, so why wait to start a family?
- Marriage in your 30s has also plenty of advantages. First of all, you’ll get enough time to enjoy life before getting married. The maturity level is definitely higher and you probably can do a better job raising kids. You are earning more and managed to establish a career. The problem-solving skills will help to navigate through challenges.
If you are not married by 40, you have probably missed the best years to get married, but it’s still an option, especially when dating Ukrainian women! Many ladies who struggle to find a partner at home in Ukraine because of demographic imbalances (there are only 86 men for 100 women in the country) come to the idea of finding a partner abroad and you are able to meet someone amazing.
All in all, the suggestion offered by experts is to marry at the age of 28-32, because this gives you the best odds against a divorce, while at the same time increases the chances to be happy in a couple.
Scientists point out that people who get married after their early 30s have a higher chance to divorce than couples who tied the knot in their 20s, surprising as it may seem.
In fact, prior to the age of 32, each additional year of age at the time of the wedding reduces the odds of a divorce by 11%. But after the age of 32, chances of divorce increase by 5% each year. Apparently, it is a recent trend that developed during last couple of decades.
