Russians fell in love with Turkish real estate and keep buying more. Spain and Italy used to be popular destinations for purchases of holiday homes among well-off locals, but now Turkey is apparently where people buy.
Real love
Turkey is probably the most popular overseas holiday destination of 2020 in Russia, as it opened its borders to foreign tourists.
According to the information of real estate websites from Turkey, residents of Moscow generate one third of all enquiries from Russia. Adding to that are requests from the Moscow region, altogether half of enquiries from Russia arrive from Moscow and its region, Lenta.ru reported.
Requests from St. Petersburg amounted to 9% of all Russian enquiries.
Spending cold Russian winters in warm Thailand used to be popular among residents of Russia who can afford it, but this year it’s not possible due to the worldwide health scare. This is why many Russians picked Turkey as the warm place by the sea for winter months.
This is another reason of the growing popularity of Turkish real estate this year.
Altogether, residents of 260 locations within Russia were active in researching prices on Turkish real estate online this year.
Many Elenasmodels.com couples met this year in Turkey, where residents from Europe and America, as well as Ukraine and Russia are able to arrive without the need to spend 14 days in isolation.
3 reasons to spend a winter in Turkey
Just as Thailand’s coastal towns, Turkish Antalya had been a popular place to live among Russians for a while.
There are 4 main reasons for that:
- Winters are a great time to travel around the country and look at sights without the usual crowds of tourists.
- The exchange rate of Russian ruble to Turkish lira is quite reasonable.
- Renting an apartment in Antalya is cheaper than in Moscow. This makes it possible for capital dwellers to lease out a unit in Moscow and rent in another country, and still have money to live on.
- When renting a property for a long time, it’s possible to get a permit to stay in the country for the period of the lease.
However, due to the sudden popularity, things are getting busier and pricier this year: Residential permits that used to take 2-3 weeks may take 2-3 months, and prices for rent are on the rise.
As rentals are becoming more expensive, property prices also went up.
