Love and money are the things we all need and want. Ukrainians tend to lean towards the traditional family model where the husband is considered the family’s provider, including his wife’s personal needs and little whims. However, what about the reverse scenario? What if the husband lives on his wife’s money?
Segodnya.ua asked its online readers in a poll how do they feel about the situation where the husband uses his wife’s financial resources. The answers may surprise you!
How do you feel about the situation where the husband lives on his wife’s money?
That was the question asked by the popular online portal with the view to find out what their readers think about such scenarios. The results are hardly unexpected.
- 37% don’t see anything wrong with such a setup.
- 35% think this could be only a temporary solution in a situation of an urgent necessity.
- 10% believe it’s fine, but only if the money is spent on the needs of the whole family and not on the husband’s whims.
- 18% are adamant that “it’s not normal, the man should provide for the family”.
So, over 1/3 of respondents don’t see a problem in a woman providing for the family, while further 45% accept it conditionally.
It is only 18% of respondents that are totally against such a setup.
The poll’s responses are not separated by gender of the respondents, unfortunately. It would be insightful to see whether the answers differ by gender, and if yes, to which extent the opinions of Ukrainian women and men differ.

More and more enforced in me the belief:
In Ukraine, people have more practical-realism (life ability) thinking, than any traditional/ conservative thinking. I suppose the results for the same answer will bedifferent in Russia.
