Several international airlines plan to resume international flights from Kyiv (Kiev) on 16 June 2020. The first planes from the Ukrainian capital will land in Belarus, Poland, Denmark, Greece, Germany, Lithuania, Cyprus, Portugal, Austria, and Latvia.
International flights from Kyiv resume from 16 June
The press service of Kyiv’s airport reported about the planned date when more informational flights will be offered.
WizzAir, Belavia, LOT, and Ukrainian Airlines plan to resume flying from Kyiv.
The airport reported that the following flights will be operating from 16 June:
- Minsk (Belarus)
- Warsaw (Poland)
- Billund (Denmark)
- Berlin (Germany)
- Athens (Greece)
- Vilnius (Lithiania)
- Nurnberg (Germany)
- Larnaca (Cyprus)
- Vienna (Austria)
- Bremen (Germany)
- Riga (Latvia)
- Lisbon (Portugal)
- Hannover (Germany)
- Gdansk (Poland)
Because of forced cancellations, Ukrainian airlines offered an additional 25% discount to clients who were affected. The airline forecasted a 46% drop in passenger traffic. In total, about half of this year’s projected passenger turnover had already occurred before the lockdown on March 17 (nearly 1 million passengers). The projection for the airline is to carry 1.9 million passengers in 2020.
Ukrainian airlines plan to start operating 14 planes and gradually increase the number to 28.
In order to speed up the recovery process, the company plans to cut down the capacity for business class passengers and promote online sales, including the ability for passengers to make changes to their bookings.
“The airline is committed to increasing fleet operation and cutting costs while preserving substantial transit potential,” according to the company statement on its website.
