If you were to look for a job in Ukraine, these professions are in high demand: Shop assistants and cashiers, sales managers, and drivers.
Looking for a job? Cashiers, shop assistants, and drivers are needed in Ukraine
Finance.ua reported what kind of job vacancies have the most listings as looking for personnel and published the list of in demand occupations, based on data from a recruitment portal.
In addition to drivers, cashiers and sales managers, the need in warehouse personnel shows up as a trend in Ukraine.
HR expert Alexander Belous pointed out that retail is the industry that traditionally offers plenty of job vacancies. In Ukraine nearly 1 in 5 workers is employed in sales (retail) of various kinds, from markets to convenience stores and supermarkets.
Expected growth in average wages in Ukraine
Jobs in retail industry are also not the most lucrative, with many employers opting to offer only the minimum remuneration allowable by law, especially among small business companies.
- At the moment the minimum monthly wage in Ukraine is 5,000 hryvnia (USD 176). Imagine earning this much per month and somehow being able to survive and pay bills.
- The average Ukrainian monthly wage in 2020 (January-August) was 11,100 hryvnia (USD 390).
The government projected growth in average wages with the view to bring local pay checks closer to the European standards.
According to prognosis, this is how salaries in Ukraine will be growing in the coming years:
- 2021: 13,632 hrvynia
- 2022: 15,414 hryvnia
- 2023: 17,169 hryvnia
Unfortunately, it’s impossible to estimate how much the Ukrainian currency will be worth in US Dollars by that time.
Only a few months ago the average Ukrainian salary in USD was $440 and now with the current exchange rate it’s only $390.
Ukrainian women have been earning 22-28% lower salaries than men for the last decade. The reason is in the fact that females usually work in industries with the lowest remuneration such as education (teachers) and medical (nurses, doctors) . The local health care system is funded by the government and free, and the private medical sector is underdeveloped, thus the salaries are low.
Jobs in retail pay even less than health care and education, especially on lower levels of cashiers and sales assistants that offer the most vacancies. This is the reason why personnel retention is a problem and thus the number of job vacancies is high.
