Ukrainian passport gained more strength in the recent months. It’s now ranked at #23 worldwide by the number of countries that Ukrainian citizens are able to visit without applying for a visa.
Ukraine’s citizenship allows wider access
The Passport Index collects information on the ability for citizens to arrive to a foreign country without applying for a visitor permit in advance. Some states offer a visa-free entry, while others will happily issue a permit on arrival.
A Ukrainian passport allows its holders to visit 133 countries of the world: 91 states visa-free an 42 others offer visas on arrival. Ranked at #23, it shares the ranking with Mauritius and Barbados.
Men and women from Ukraine still require a permit to enter 64 destinations.
- United Arab Emirates‘ citizenship is the strongest with 171 borders open. ranked at #1. Only 27 states require citizens of UAE to obtain an entry permit beforehand.
- Luxemburg, Finland, Germany, and Spain are not far behind with the second placement in the rating. Only 31 borders are not transparent for their citizens.
- Russia is at #37 among 117 states. 81 destinations require a visa application prior to the trip.
A former Soviet Union republic Lithuania is #5 (164 destination), while Latvia and Estonia are #7 (162).
Holders of travel documents issued by Afganistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, and Somalia are the most restricted: Only 30-30 other borders are open for them.
Certainly, not all borders are created equal. Some destinations are more desirable than others.
