Solo travel has always been something people did, but in our times it became way easier with electronic connections to family and friends. Females in particular enjoy the trend, with many options offered by accommodation websites, some of which are totally free, such as couch surfing.

A recent survey by a Russian travel website Tutu.ru revealed that 1 in 4 of its clients loves solo trips and enjoys exploring the world on their own.

Solo travel in Russia: Nearly half of Russian respondents already take trips alone

Over 3,000 people answered the poll about trips for one.

Although 1 in 3 respondents reject the idea of going to a solitary vacation (31%), the larger part of participants feel positive about such tours, and 1 in 4 is already doing it (27%), taking vacations around the globe.

• Further 16% of respondents tour Russia on their own, while 5% of users happy to venture abroad, given they don’t feel a language barrier in the country.
• 6% of survey takers stated they would love to go on solo trips, but the partner or spouse wouldn’t let them.
• 15% of participants would like to try a solo trip and feel positive about the idea in general.

Do Russian women feel OK about travelling on their own?

There are a lot of Russian female travellers who take trips abroad alone. There are global communities for female solo travellers online, where international tourists can connect and network.

Having a point of contact in the place they intend to visit is one of the things experienced tourists arrange in advance.
