If you are dating a Russian woman online, there are a few things you should be watching out for. You will be able to pick up potential problems quickly, once you know what to look for.
3 things to watch out for when dating a Russian woman online
The Internet created an exciting new way for people to connect, and today many couples connect online, fall in love, and live happily every after.
In fact, we at Elenasmodels.com know about thousands of couples who met on this dating site and decided to spend the rest of their lives together.
At the same time, when you are contacting a Russian woman via a dating site, there are certain safety tips that will keep you protected.
1. Don’t fall for the infamous “catfish” setup
When Internet was in its early days, some people would upload to a dating site a photo of a celebrity or some random picture they found online and pretend to be that cool and beautiful person.
This could be going for weeks, with talks on the phone and emails back and forth, where the other unsuspecting guy or girl would be falling in love with the beautiful image and sweet words.
The person on the other end could be simply not as gorgeous in person and wanting to experience what it feels when people admire you, or it could be something more sinister, where the trusting user would be asked to wire funds for tickets or some “family emergency”.
This obvious fraudulent setup got some variation in our days, with lots of videos and photos available online of various people via social networks. The perpetrator gets hold of many videos and photos of an attractive person and invents a legend, gaining trust and manipulating feelings of a person for weeks or even months, before asking for a funds to be wired.
But it’s most often about money; so, if you are getting a money request, think 100 times and ask advice from people who know the industry (not just family and friends). Usually, the perpetrator makes it appear as an emergency where there is no time to think; if this is the case, it’s most certainly something sinister; don’t send money.
Solution: Have a face-to-face conversation with the person you are dating, at least a couple of times a week, via video chat apps like Facebook messenger, WhatsApp, or Skype. It should last at least 10-15 minutes and you should be able to see the person’s face and their words should match what you see.
- Warning! Sometimes fraudsters imitate a video call by lip-syncing the first 30-45 seconds and then going into an audio call from their side, citing connection problems. Don’t buy into such things; if this happened to you, it’s most doubtful that the person on the other end is genuine.
This “watch out for” issue isn’t only related to dating Russian women, but relevant in regard to any online connections.
2. Don’t pay per minute or per message
When you are paying per piece of communication, no matter how small the fee seems to you, there is a way to hire someone to imitate communication.
In some countries with low wages, people are getting paid as little as $0.25 per message they produce and the same amount per minute of text chat, but it’s enough for them, if they get a few admirers and a constant flow of communication.
If you do pay per minute or per message, realize that you are paying to be told all these sweet things, and if you stop paying, the lovely messages will stop, too. Besides, you need to understand that except for lovely messages, there will be nothing more, except for these charges on your credit card, to show for this “relationship”.
The person in photos, who you think is talking to you, is likely to be a part of the setup and is also getting paid a percentage. But communication in such schemes is usually performed by someone else, removed from the person in the photos, so that they don’t take it personally and simply treat it as a job that provides a living.
This is why if you ask to chat on video with this person, this may be arranged and you could feel like it’s all bona fide, because it was indeed the person from the pictures who talked to you on camera. But it absolutely doesn’t change the setup, if you are paying a small fee for every message and chat.
Solution: Never play these games. You simply cannot win.
Whatever checks of honesty you may think of, it’s been done before you and they know what to do, to make you think it’s all real.
These syndicates are well-organized and had been doing it for over 15 years. If you think you wish to fight them, maybe think again.
You will spend a lot of time and effort and things probably won’t change, as these syndicates are located in countries that have more serious problems than some locals fooling people on the Internet with pretty pics.
This is a “watch out for” matter that frequently pops up when dating Russian women. Be vigilant and smart, and don’t play these games where the odds are never in your favour.
3. Don’t fall in love too quickly
If you are chatting to one particular person you find fascinating, your head may not be in the right place to make decisions that can have serious consequences.
Solution: Get some more contacts with other Russian women and chat to them as well. See how it feels, as compared to your one and only contact.
Make sure you ground yourself in reality and not in wishful thinking.
Get yourself some perspective before deciding on actions that are capable of altering the course of your life. Watch out for getting too deep too quickly not only when you are dating Russian women, but in general with any online relationship.
