Pensioners aged 75 and over are going to get 500 hryvnia added to their monthly pensions, the minister of social politics Marina Lazebnaya informed.
Extra 500 hryvnia for pensioners 75+
Over a million of Ukrainian pensioners aged 75 and over will be getting extra 500 hryvnia (USD 19) monthly on top of their current pension, according to a recent decision of the government, Finance.ua reported.
This may not sound as much, but the official sustenance level in the country is only USD 75. $19 is 25% of that amount.
The date when the initiative will be implemented will be set later by legislators.
In addition, parents who have sick children requiring care will be able to retire early, even if they haven’t acquired the necessary number of years of work.
Ukraine started indexing of pensions in May 2020.
8.4 million of Ukrainian retirees will get about 11% increase. The minimum pension is raised to 2,100 hryvnia ($78).
The required number of years of work is set at 30 years for females and 35 years for males. Females in Ukraine are also able to retire 5 years earlier than males.
- According to the data of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, the average pension in April 2020 was 3,170 hrvynia (USD 118).
- There are 11.3 million pensioners among the total population of 42 million people.
