Tourists and visitors frequently get in trouble in Emirates with its strict laws about inappropriate behavior in public or intimate relations without a wedlock. This time a group of Ukrainian girls got themselves in hot waters over a nude flash-mob that was filmed for an IT company. The models now could face a 6-month jail term for indecency.

Ukrainian girls in trouble with the law in Emirates over indecent display in public

The models were filmed naked, allegedly in a commercial, on an open balcony, in full display of the neighboring skyscrapers.

According to various sources, the number of detainees went from 12 to 40 people, including 11 Ukrainian girls. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed that 11 women who are citizens of Ukraine were involved in the promotion shot, KP.ua reported.

Because of harsh laws in Emirates, the indecent public display can have serious consequences. The accused may be jailed for up to 6 months in an Emirates prison.

Instagram accounts that appear to belong to the girls who took part in the shooting of the promotional video, show photos of their walks in Dubai, including the balcony on which the alleged incident may have occurred. One of the models, Yana G. aged 27, wanted to be a lawyer or an administrator in addition to modelling. Her resume on Work.UA shows this.

The session was visible to residents of nearby towers, some of whom filmed what was happening and posted the video online. Apparently, this is where it was viewed by the local police and the consequences followed.

Stupidity or arrogance? The whole team of filmmakers faces jail terms

Apparently, the commercial had been filmed for a Russian IT company involved in development of Internet projects.

Unknowingly, the producers might have decided to create something provocative to surprise users, but they overlooked one fact. In Emirates, nude displays in public get you in big trouble. Even innocent hand holding and kissing in view of others may get reported.

Now 11 Ukrainian girls along with other participants face harsh penalties and will have to explain themselves in a court.
