A new research has shown that caffeine 30 minutes before training raises maximal fat oxidation. Moreover, the effect of caffeine is more noticeable during the day than in the morning.
Drink a cup of coffee and burn more fat
Scientists from the Department of Physiology of the University of Granada found that caffeine in the amount of 3 mg/kg, which is approximately equal to a cup of double espresso, drunk half an hour before an aerobic training greatly accelerates the oxidation and fat burning.
In addition, researchers point out that the effect is even more pronounced in the second part of the day or in the evening, ScienceDaily.com reported.
It is believed that caffeine is one of the most popular ergogenic substances in the world for improving sports performance, increasing adaptation to physical activity and muscle endurance, strength, anaerobic power. Scientists have proven that coffee helps people not only to wake up, but also lose weight.
The main author of this study Francisco José Amaro-Gahete claims that it is often recommended to work out in the morning before a meal on an empty stomach to increase fat burning. But this advice, in his opinion, has no scientific proof, due to the fact that it can be associated with both morning exercise and a long absence of food.
The experiment involved 15 men aged 25 to 39 years, who performed a graduated physical education test 4 times with 7-day intervals.
During the test, the conditions, namely the time between meals, physical activity, and so on, were the same for everyone and were strictly observed.
For several weeks, randomly, twice a day, at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., some men took a cup of coffee (3 mg/kg), and the rest took a placebo. Half an hour after drinking coffee or a placebo, the men did a workout with the same load.
How to achieve maximum results?
Scientists have found a relationship between the time of the day and the oxidation of fat during exercise. They confirmed that the efficiency of fat oxidation is higher in the afternoon than in the morning.
The results of the study conducted by scientists, no doubt, will please coffee lovers and those who cannot stand morning exercise. Besides morning exercise in combination with coffee is equivalent to the result of training in the afternoon without the use of caffeine.
As a result of this experiment, the researchers were able to draw the following conclusion. For people who want to increase the consumption of fat reserves, it is best to combine a strong coffee and exercise in the afternoon.
