At first we all complained about the quarantine and the need to stay at home, but when told to get back to work, people may have reservations, just like after a long vacation, business coaches warn.
Business coach: “It may take minimum a week to adjust”
Marina Derkach, a Ukrainian business coach, believes that people would need at least a week get adjust before getting into the mood for working again, KP.ua reported. She says the opinion about people getting tired from staying at home and being fully ready to work is erroneous.
Even after a vacation many people don’t feel like going back to the office, she pointed out.
Derkach believes that employers would be wise to offer gradual involvement, if the workers wish. For instance, the employer could offer a shorter working day in the first week or allowing to continue working remotely, if the person would like to do it.
The coach believe workers should not be shy if they would like to get such allowances and simply ask. This could make the process easier and workers happier.
Tip how to get back to work
- Prepare the night before.
- Go to bed before midnight.
- Drink a glass of water once you wake up. It helps to shake off sleepiness.
- Leave 15-20 minutes earlier than normal, to make sure you don’t run late.
- Start the day from planning what needs to be done.
- Take short 10-15 minute breaks every 60-90 minutes by going to a bathroom, grabbing a glass of water, or simply changing what you are doing.
- Take it easy after work, at least in the first week. Don’t overload yourself at home.
