Turkey is widely popular among Ukrainians and this year didn’t disappoint its avid fans. Turkey resorts opened their doors to tourists from Ukraine and nearly half a million of them took the opportunity to relax by the beach.
Turkish vacations for Ukrainians
By 9 October 2020, nearly half a million of Ukrainians visited Turkish resorts since July, Kyiv Post reported.
Most of them arrived by air, a top Turkish tourism official stated.
It is a sharp drop from last year numbers when nearly 1.6 million of Ukrainian tourists arrived to enjoy Turkish hospitality, Nadir Aspalan, the deputy culture and tourism minister revealed during a meeting in Antalya, one of the most popular locations for a seaside vacation in Turkey.
The season of summer 2020 was exceptional in many ways, but the inflow of tourists allowed many businesses to get by.
Turkey adopted a special Safe Tourism program with strong safety measures covering all levels, from arriving by air to hotels and meals. The goal was to allow safe visiting by international guests but also protecting the local population, workers of the resort and entertainment facilities, as well as population of the country.
Ukrainian deputy culture and information policy minister, Larysa Petasiuk, confirmed that Turkey and Ukraine have managed to build and maintain strong relations, even in these challenging times.
