Unemployment benefits in Ukraine are only paid for 9 months following a departure from a job. The minimum size of unemployment benefits for people who worked for longer than 6 months is 1630 hryvnia (USD 65) per month, Finance.ua reported.
How much unemployed get in Ukraine
People who decided to resign have to wait until the day #91 after they stopped working, to be eligible for unemployment benefits.
From 1 January 2019 the size of the monthly payout for people who worked for less than the required 6 months was increased from 544 ($22) to 610 hryvnia ($25). How people survive on such miniscule amount? With the help of family and friends, obviously, because it’s hardly possibly to do without that.
Payouts for people who have 6 months or more of the lifetime work experience:
- Under 2 years: 50% of the wage at the last job
- 2-6 years: 55%
- 6-10 years: 60%
- Experience of 10+ years: 70%
If the unemployed person was unable to find a new job within 91 days after the last day at the previous place, the payouts begin.
- For the first 3 months the person is getting the full amount as per the gradation by experience (listed above).
- The following 3 months: 80% of this amount.
- The following 3 months: 70% of the amount.
Thus, the social payout by unemployment is provided for 9 months, starting 3 months after the last day of work at the previous job.
