Wage expectations of Ukrainians are rising, just as employers are prepared to pay more. In the third quarter of 2019 workers in Ukraine wished on average to earn 16,739 hryvnia per month (USD 675), employment portal Rabota.ua reported.
Monthly wage of USD 675 is what Ukrainians would like to earn
Rabota.ua is an employment portal that connects job seekers and employers. The averages reported by Finance.ua are the numbers that are averaged among all vacancies and resumes.
As compared to the second quarter of 2019, wage expectations have grown by 558 hryvnia (USD 22).
Salaries in Ukraine are still paid monthly, not weekly. Most often workers get paid twice a month: The first part in the middle of the month is called “advance” and the second part “salary”. Some workers are only paid once a month, depending on the company.
Delays in paying of the wages are not unusual: Sometimes people get paid 3-4 weeks too late, or ever a few months late. The delays in payment accumulate over time: At first people get wages one week too late, then two weeks too late, and so on.

In 2019 the average monthly salary in Ukraine went up by nearly 20% in just one year. In July 2019 it was 9,170 UAH (USD 370).
The government hoped it would achieve 10,971 UAH in 2019. It may still happen by the end of the year ($442).
According to recruitment portal HH.ua, the average wage in Ukraine in the third quarter of 2019 was 10,537 UAH ($424).
