Giant sales during the ‘Black Friday’ weekend used to be an American thing, but now with the online purchases exploding, Ukrainians are also offered special deals in the last days of November. However, 4 in 5 Ukrainians don’t believe they are getting special discounts during these days, a recent poll discovered.
80% of Ukrainians don’t believe in ‘Black Friday’ discounts
Segodnya.ua asked its online visitors whether they have already planned their shopping lists for the famous sales.
Online shopping is growing worldwide, with Ukrainians being some of the most frequent visitors to online stores offering cheap prices.
With the holiday season approaching, buying something special for oneself or possibly gifts for family and friends, this seems to be the perfect time to pick a bargain. But less than 10% of respondents to the survey said they are prepared with shopping carts that are including the things they wish to purchase. Many Internet stores advertise discounts weeks in advance, so the visitors are able to add the things they like to their wish lists.
Further 9% of users take an opportunistic approach and if they see a big discount, they plan to snap it.
But the vast majority of people who responded to the poll (80.95%) stated they don’t believe in discounts and won’t be buying anything. Are they simply stubborn or do they know something we don’t?
Public opinion about ‘Black Friday’ specials shows that people in Ukraine are sceptical about the value of deals offered.

I’m an American that sees “Black Friday” sales and traffic. To me, these sales are just a gimmick to get people into their stores just to buy items they really don’t need, but they gotta have it because it’s on sale. Those sale prices last all season long, so you can get those deals whenever you want, from the last Friday in November right up until Christmas Eve. Just my $0.02 worth.
I love Black Friday!!! I just bought 18 movies and payed 1/3 the normal price. I waited all year to buy these movies to get the discounts. The shops are making easier to buy items, such as offering them early and purchasing online, but it does not negate the savings. Some deeply discounted items are last years models or extra inventory, but if you are on a budget, who cares! It’s still great.
