A report by Freedom House shows how free are countries of the world in 2020. Ukraine scored more than 3 times higher on the scale of freedoms as compared to its northern neighbour.

Rating of freedoms: Russia at 20/100, Ukraine at 62/100

According to the rating, Russia is listed as “Not Free” (20 out of 100), while Ukraine got the score 62 (“Partly Free”).

Russia remained on the same score as last year. Ukrainian score has improved by 2 points up as compared to 2018.

Belarus is 1 point below Russian Federation with the score of 19/100.

Crimea was scored separately and only got 8 points. It’s not far away from North Korea with its 3 points.

Ukrainian citizens obtained the ability to visit the European Union visa-free in 2017. Citizens of most western countries are able cross the Ukrainian border without a visa or get one stamped on arrival at the airport.
