She or he is screwing anything that moves, and then suddenly meets a guy or a girl who doesn’t fit the mould of a usual overnight date, and voila — they are in love and have a baby 9 months later. How romantic! Let’s make a movie about it!!

He or she wants to get married and have a family, tries to find a partner locally but cannot meet anyone who wants the same things in life, accidentally bumps into a website with guys or girls from another country who want the same things, falls in love, gets married and has a baby 9 months later… Mail order bride! Let’s label this couple as losers and low life.

Maybe it’s not like this (let me know if you don’t notice such a trend in your environment), but that’s how I feel.

The modern morals seem to be OK with multiple hook-ups, but not OK with looking for the love of your life, even if she or he lives far away (boundaries are arbitrary and people are equal everywhere, right?).

I feel really frustrated with such views, and I am sure there are other people who feel the same way.

If it is OK to look for a job in another country, or wish to move to another country (immigrate) to get a better life, or travel the world, or live in different countries throughout life to enrich one’s experience, then seeking a partner abroad is just another thing that people do in the world that grows increasingly global with every day.

People who remember the end of 1990s when the first dating sites popped up may recall that meeting someone online was seen as weird and peculiar, and many couples used to hide this fact. Now so many people meet through dating sites and apps, no one sees it as strange!
