Russians have managed to find new things to do while in mandatory self-isolation. Movies and series are the primary option for people to entertain themselves while sitting at home. But people also exercise, study, cook, read, and do crafts.

The pandemics and the following request to stay at home motivated 1 in 5 Russians to find a new hobby, a recent survey by employment portal Rabota.ru discovered.
- 31% of people started watching movies and series.

Over 4,000 people from different regions of the country provided answers, Ren.tv reported.
Another survey by travel hub Tutu.ru asked its users about the ways they entertain themselves while in isolation. 38% of respondents stated they aren’t in isolation and do not work from home.
Watching movies is the most popular way to entertain oneself (17%), followed by simply doing nothing (14%). 7% of respondents said they started to exercise regularly, while 6% enjoy cooking and the same share of respondents signed up for online courses. Crafts and handiwork are the way to pass time for 5% of users.
At the same time, doctors in Russia pointed out that a prolonged self-isolation may lead to depression, IZ.ru reported.
The first symptom that things are starting to go down in this regard is irritation. It’s caused by the increased sensitivity of the nervous system.
For instance, a person could be hardly noticing a TV that was playing too loud, but suddenly he or she reacts with a great irritation or even anger to such noise.
Other signs include the lack of interest to activities that used to be enjoyable and feeling tired.
Some people may notice loss of appetite, doctors pointed out. They may even feel that food is tasteless.
Loss of sexual appetite is also a worrying sign, according to specialists. The doctors recommend couples to make an effort to maintain intimacy during isolation, even when they have kids and the whole atmosphere is hectic.
Single people are even more susceptible to depression, doctors warned. In stressful situations, individuals tend to do better as part of a group. Loneliness sharpens fears and anxiety.
