27-year-old Miss Universe Ukraine Lisa Yastremskaya is taking a trip to Miami, USA, to compete for the global crown. The competition starts on 16 May 2021.
Third time lucky for Miss Universe Ukraine Lisa Yastremskaya
It is the third time that 27-year-old Ukrainian beauty got to score in the famous beauty pageant.
- In 2016 Lisa Yastremskaya got into the Ukrainian finals of Miss Universe but had to quit for personal reasons.
- In 2019 she scored the title of Vice-Miss Universe Ukraine.
- In December 2020 Lisa Yastremskaya was appointed as Miss Universe Ukraine with the mandate to compete in 2021 global pageant. The organizers resolved that holding a country-wide model search during pandemics would be unrealistic, so the previous year Vice-Miss got selected as the obvious choice to represent Ukraine on the global stage.
According to the lovely brunette, it was her childhood dream to represent her country in the most prestigious beauty competition on the planet, KP.ua reported.
This time after scoring the top title, her chance to compete for the world crown was also hanging in the air for a while, as Yastremskaya had a problem getting a visa. The reason was her family connections in Miami, where the competition is taking place.
How a marriage to an American nearly crashed the model’s dreams
Lisa’s sister married an American and lives in Florida. She arrived to the USA on a tourist visa, where she got married and stayed permanently.
This is why Miss Universe Ukraine Lisa Yastremskaya’s visa application was denied, which was a big shock for the girl who spent years competing and was actively preparing for her participation in the global contest from December 2020.
After initial concerns officials confirmed Yastremskaya’s visa would be granted. But the passport of Miss Universe Ukraine is still in the mail, she says.
“I will relax only when I’d have the stamp in the passport,” Lisa confessed. The hiccup left her apprehensive.
“You realize that in one moment your dream could be crashed.”
Flying solo
The Ukraine’s beauty queen may have to fly to Miami alone, because of the pandemics restrictions and the need for a visa for any of her local friends.
Lisa said her sister with the husband may stay at the same hotel for the duration of the competition to support her, although it’s still unclear whether public would be permitted in the room when the contestants are on stage.
Moreover, participants of the beauty pageant won’t be allowed to leave the hotel. There won’t be usual excursions or meetings with local charity organizations that Miss Universe is famous for, neither games of golf with Mr Donald Trump, who used to host some activities for participants before his 2016 presidency, being the founder of the pageant.
Instead of 3 weeks, this year the contest is scheduled over just 10 days.
Dreams do come true
Lisa remembers one time several years ago when she was at a public bathroom next to Miss Universe Ukraine 2010 Anna Poslavska, who scored the title of the third runner up on the world stage. That moment made a great impression on the young Lisa, who couldn’t believe she was standing next to the famous beauty queen. Now Poplavska is a TV host at one of Ukrainian channels.
Apparently, Lisa Yastremskaya was dreaming of the beauty queen crown for years.
“Every New Year and on my birthday I would write a list of my wishes. The number one dream was always to become Miss Universe Ukraine. It was very important for me,” the dark-haired beauty confessed.
Now this wish came true, after so many attempts and years of hard work. Well done!
Lisa posted to her followers after she got titled Miss Universe Ukraine, “If a person’s dreams come true, then this is included in one’s life plans. Dream boldly and daringly and raise the bar of possibilities!”
6 suitcases of clothes and makeup
Even though this year contestants cannot bring souvenirs because of quarantine restrictions, Lisa said she would have to pack 6 or more suitcases containing outfits for the pageant.
Participants would also have to do their own hair and makeup, which was always the case for preliminary rounds, Yastremskaya noted. But previously hair and makeup artists assisted models in the finals. This year they would have to do it by themselves, too.
In fact, two of her outfits for the contest aren’t even ready yet: The national costume and the evening gown. But everything should be ready in time for the departure.
“No time even to eat”
There is a lot to prepare for in the contest, including rehearsing answers to possible questions in English. Participants must be able to speak English fluently and discuss topics of public importance in one of the rounds.
There also workouts to get in top shape, which Lisa attends diligently. A personal nutrition plan designed to highlight her physique should assist here as well.
“Some days I am busy from morning till late at night, no time even to eat,” the model confessed.
Natural beauty
Many participants of beauty contests use Botox injections and fillers in order to achieve desired looks, apply hair extensions and fake nails.
However, Lisa refuses to use anything artificial.
“I like myself the way I am,” Yastremskaya stated proudly.
“I have always believed that it’s better to have my own hair, nails, and look after them.”
“I am fully natural and didn’t do anything on myself.”
However, Yastremskaya feels it’s a personal choice whether to use plastic surgery or not.
“If a person would like to change the shape of lips, nose, breasts, then they can do operations.”
What’s next?
Lisa Yastremskaya says she plans to develop her own clothing brand of swimwear and evening wear, as well as host her own motivational TV talk show interviewing successful people.
“I already started communicating with people on this topic. I already have a picture in my mind, how to do it.”
Today many people choose to start YouTube channels, but Lisa Yastremskaya still feels she’d prefer to be on TV. But if can’t go ahead, blogging on YouTube may be the next best thing, she agrees.
Does Lisa Yastremskaya have a boyfriend?
The Ukrainian beauty prefers to keep her private life private.
“I am not married, this is what you can write,” she said cheekily in the interview to KP.ua.
“I don’t like talking about it. I don’t discuss my private life.”
