Instead of being happy for her and wishing her the best, her colleagues started to tell her about possible dangers of getting married to a foreigner.

They said that Russian girls who married foreigners have been known to be chained in a basements or had their kids taken away from them, never to see the children again.

Such is the view that is widely promoted by Russian TV and media. Stories about ladies who got in trouble after marrying a foreign man are promoted again and again, to the point where the events as they are described by supposed victims seem like stories from a horror movie.

At the same time, there are literally thousands of blogs by Russian girls who married foreigners and are happy on Instagram, but none of these makes front pages of newspapers or subjects of talk shows.

You probably also cannot remember when was the last time you’ve read about a successful marriage of a local man with a Russian woman in the media. Such stories are a regular thing and no one cares.

Most marriages of Russian women with foreign men are happy, although we seldom hear about them, unless, of course, you are reading success stories on Elenasmodels.com.

How to make the woman feel comfortable at the start of your communication

It’s a good idea to tell the lady in one of the first messages that you do not have any criminal record and only have honourable intentions towards her.

It may seem silly or self-evident, but such a phrase will definitely put the woman at ease.

You may also want to ask her about her views on marriages of women from her country to foreigners, whether she personally knows some ladies who did it, or read such blogs on Instagram or online.

She may have never thought of that and will start finding out the truth, as opposed to TV propaganda.
