Russian women are the most stressed category in the country, along with young people aged 18-24: 29% of respondents in these groups admitted to be stressed all the time or often.
29% of Russian women are stressed
In general, the share of people who said they never or rarely get stressed increased: From 29% in 2010 to 40% in 2019. So, a larger share of people in Russia are feeling free of stress, according to the latest poll by WCIOM.ru devoted to psychological health.
However, at the same time the share of people who said they are constantly stressed grew from 3% to 8%.
Women and people aged 18-24 are the most stressed, with 29% in these groups admitting to being under stress constantly or often.
- 42% of Russians wouldn’t seek any help when they have a problem but rather deal with it themselves.
- 58% of respondents stated they would ask for help.
48% of Russian men stated that they never or rarely have problems in life.
How do Russians deal with problems?
In general, the most popular ways of dealing with issues are positive thinking (9%), analysing the situation and seeking solutions (9%), and using medication (7%).
Most often Russians seek help from family (33%), partner (21%) and friends (21%) when faced with challenges. However, 33% of respondents stated they wouldn’t contact anyone seeking help and rather sort it out themselves.
Only 12% of respondents said they sought professional help from a psychologist at some point in life, while 88% never done it.
It’s no wonder that the most stressed categories (women and young people aged 18-24) more often sought professional help: 15% of females admitted they did, as well as 18% among the group 18-24 years old.
