Only 6.5% of working Ukrainians earn a monthly wage of over USD 1,000 (25,000 hryvnia). Most often people in Ukraine earn only 5-6 thousand hryvnia ($180-220), Finance.ua reported. 1 in 5 Ukrainians are getting such low salaries.

One in five employees in Ukraine are paid just above the minimum monthly wage, which is now 4,723 hryvnia ($171).
Salaries of 5-6 thousand UAH are typical and 1 in 5 workers are paid only that much. Many Ukrainian women who work as shop assistants or cashiers could be earning such amounts.
From 1 September 2020 the minimum wage in Ukraine is due to be increased to 5,000 UAH ($182). It’s just $10 increase but overall, it’s 6.4% raise.
Wages in Ukraine are still considered by month, not hourly. When Ukrainians talk about salaries, they usually mean monthly remuneration.
- From 1 January 2021 an even more substantial raise is planned: up to 6,000 UAH ($218) or by 20%, AIN.ua reported.
- On 1 July 2021 another 500 hryvnia will be added on top of that, to the amount of UAH 6,500 ($236) or by 8.3%.
- In total, in just 1 year from now the minimum salary in Ukraine should gain 37% to the current level.
According to Ukrstat, the real wage of Ukrainians went up by 56% in 2016-2019 and exceeded the level of 2013 by 20%.
Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, assured that increases in the level of the minimum wage won’t adversely affect the economy or speed up inflation.
