It was a great news for Ukrainian girls to be able to visit Europe without a visa in June 2017. But this perfect setup in coming to an end.

From 2021 Ukrainians will need pre-authorization to visit EU visa-free

Traveling the world is a wonderful thing, if you have money and don’t need visas. The latter is something that takes time and energy, and in some cases, you may not get it.

Especially if you are a young Ukrainian girl who wants to see her online boyfriend in Europe.

At the moment, you are able to meet a woman from Ukraine online (for instance, on Elenasmodels.com), and she can fly to see you on the weekend.

Tickets to Europe from Ukraine are cheap enough to be able to afford it, especially if you are happy to pay for the airfare.

However, from 2021 this may become more complicated. Traveling on visa-waiver program will require pre-authorization beforehand, Finance.ua reported.

The new system called ETIAS changes the way that citizens of third countries cross EU borders. The change will affect not only Ukrainians, but also citizens of the USA, Canada, or Japan.

What is ETIAS?

The idea to request citizens of eligible visa-waiver countries to inform the European Union’s authorities about their desire to visit came up in 2016 with the pack of suggestions to improve security of the borders.

By the end of 2018 the European Union approved the plan of travel pre-authorization for citizens of third countries.

• They will need to apply online before the trip and get an approval.
• The approval may take only a few minutes, if the person has no criminal history or violations of immigration requirements in the past.
• There is a cost involved: 7 Euro per person. Kids and people aged 70+ are able to apply free of charge.
• The pre-authorization will be valid for 3 years or until the end of validity of the document used to apply (i.e. passport).

If the approval isn’t granted, the person is able to lodge an appeal.

By the end of 2018 the European Union approved the plan of travel pre-authorization for citizens of third countries.

Why does the European Union require a pre-authorization under ETIAS?

• To identify persons who could pose a migration or security risk.
• To improve border security.
• To bring down the number of refusals at the point of entry.

So, if you live in Europe and have been thinking about dating a Ukrainian girl, don’t delay! Until 2021 women from Ukraine can visit you easily, but after 1 January 2021 it may become more complex.
