1-room apartments are the most popular among renters due to their affordability. In 2020 the most expensive 1-room unit in Moscow was listed for 120,000 rubles per month (USD 1,529) and the cheapest at less than 20,000 (USD 254).
How expensive is to rent in Moscow?
On average, the cost of renting a 1-room unit in Moscow is on the level of 35,000 rubles per month, RBC.ru reported.
2-room units cost 46,000 rubles ($586), while 3-room apartments are listed at 65,000 rubles ($828).
While these prices may seem not too high, let’s not forget that on average Russians earn around USD 600-700 monthly. In Moscow the average wage is higher, around USD 1000-1100, but the cost of life is also more expensive.

The cheapest 1-room apartments are listed at less than 20,000 rubles per month (USD 254). The options for such prices aren’t the largest or best in quality of furnishings, but some people can only afford that much.
The most expensive 1-room rental is listed at over USD 1,500 per month, because the unit is renovated to a high standard, includes good quality furniture and located in the city centre.
