Health is the most important thing for Russians in 2020 and promotion and career growth is the least of their worries, a recent poll by WCIOM revealed.
99% of Russians are worried about health and only 33% about careers
Priorities are definitely shifting in 2020 among Russians, with people putting health first and careers last.
Such are the results of the recent poll by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre, conducted on 22 May by phone among 1,600 residents of Russia.
- In 2017 health also scored as #1 priority (99%), along with relationships in a family (89%), which dropped to #2 this year. 89% of people see health as very significant aspect with 10% as rather vital. (0% see it as unimportant.)
- Relationships in a family are seen as absolutely essential by 84% of participants, while 14% of users consider it rather important.
- Safety scored at #3 with 97% total score.
- Financial situation scored at #4 with 96% of total votes, same as ecological situation (#5). But very important it’s for 73% and 69% of respondents, respectively.
- Schools, shops, roads, and infrastructure scored 94% at #6.
- Ability of communication with family and friends ranked at #7 (93%), but only 57% see it as absolutely vital.
- Economical and political situation in the country in a whole scored at #8 (87%).
- Ability to achieve one’s goals is at #9 with 84%.
- Climate scored 78% of votes at #10.
- Entertainment gathered 70% of voters’ ticks, while creative self-realization scored 61%.
- Careers and promotions, the ability to reach a high position at work was only scored as very important by 12% of respondents in 2020. Additionally, 21% of participants ranked it as “important”, while 27% of users see it as rather unimportant. 34% of participants view it as completely unimportant (possibly, they are the ones who are retired or still studying).
- Participation in political and societal life was ranked as very important by only 10% of respondents. 30% of users see it as rather important, while 34% as rather unsubstantial and 22% as totally useless.
Compared to 2017, the importance of career dropped by 8% in total. Participation in political life suffered even a stronger flow with 12% less people thinking it had importance. Social status dropped in importance by 7%. Creative self-realization lost 10% of votes.
Entertainment is just as vital for people as it was before (1% drop), the same for the ability to communicate with friends and family. Same can be said about climate with 1% hike in importance.
Reaching goals scored much higher in 2020: Up by 14% from 2017.
